Pricing Transparency Last Updated: April 6, 2026
At San Antonio ER & Hospital, we are committed to helping patients better understand the cost of their care. The pricing information provided on this page is intended to offer general cost estimates and improve transparency.
Please note that actual charges may vary based on your medical condition, the services provided, insurance coverage, and any additional testing or procedures required during treatment. As a result, your final bill may differ from the estimates provided.
What Is Pricing Transparency?
Federal regulations require hospitals to make pricing information publicly available so patients can better understand potential healthcare costs. Hospitals must publish standard charges for services and provide pricing information for common “shoppable services” that can be scheduled in advance.
Use the links below to view our standard charges and shoppable services information.
Standard Charges
San Antonio ER & Hospital provides a Standard Charge File that includes several types of pricing information required by federal regulations that are defined below.
- Gross Charge: The full price listed on the hospital chargemaster. Gross charges can vary from hospital to hospital for the same procedure or service based on factors like hospital location, the kinds of services the facility typically provides, and the expertise required to deliver the services.
- Discounted Cash Price: The price offered to patients who pay on their own without third-party insurance coverage.
- Payer-Specific Negotiated Charge: The charge a hospital has negotiated with a third-party payer for an item or service, which can vary based on your coverage and specific plan. You’ll sometimes see this referred to as the “allowed amount” on an insurer’s Explanation of Benefits.
- De-identified Minimum Negotiated Charge: The lowest charge a hospital has negotiated for an item or service across all insurers.
- De-identified Maximum Negotiated Charge: The highest charge a hospital has negotiated for an item or service across all insurers.
Shoppable Service Cost Estimates
Shoppable services are common healthcare services that can typically be scheduled in advance. Federal regulations require hospitals to provide pricing information for these services to help patients compare costs and make informed healthcare decisions.
We support efforts to improve healthcare price transparency and provide patients with accessible cost information to support informed healthcare decisions.
